La Senda Verde
Wildlife sanctuary in the Yungas near Coroico, Bolivia, founded in 2003. It gives a permanent home to more than 1,000 wild animals rescued from trafficking and habitat loss, including Tigrino, a tilcayo tiger cat (Leopardus tilcayo).
La Senda Verde ("green path") was founded in 2003 by Vicky Ossio and Marcelo Levy on the eastern slopes of the Bolivian Andes, near Coroico in the Yungas. It started with one orphaned capuchin monkey. Today the sanctuary takes in more than 100 animals a year, cares for over 1,000 permanent residents, and works on rehabilitation, rewilding and conservation education.
Tigrino, one of the animals in their care, is a tilcayo tiger cat. His kind was formally described as a new species, Leopardus tilcayo, in 2026. La Senda Verde shared their photos of Tigrino for the Tilcayo Tiger Cat card.
